For architecture to truly be by the people they need to take part in it. Which brings up the question of architectural paradigms and the architect wanting to have a certain control over how their final project looks like. But instead of having that full control, what if there is a way for the building to grow by the direct interaction of the users. Can a facade grow over time by the users? I am proposing an ever changing museum facade. With Natural Glowing Marble Stone.
My initial idea for a glowing central museum, a beacon that anchors visitors, began with the concept of an illuminated glass box. I imagined shelving units attached directly to the transparent façade, showcasing the collection from within. However, I quickly realized that using all glass would introduce major glare issues, compromising the viewing quality of the artworks inside. This led me to reconsider the material palette, turning instead to the region’s own Istrian stone and marble. By reimagining these traditional materials. I began to design a stone facade that could glow from within, merging solidity with luminosity, and still serve as the symbolic and spatial anchor.
