FEATURED PROJECTS
The Quarry Arts envisions a dynamic environment where material extraction,
fabrication, education, and cultural production are spatially and programmatically integrated. By uniting industrial processes with public engagement and creative practice, the district fosters a holistic model of place-making that links geology, craftsmanship, and community within a shared landscape.
A place of wonder, growing curiosity and never ending exploration. Having a wild imagination that starts to formulate new scapes of play and fostering different types of learning styles. The layout of the kindergarten follows the day of the student starting out with formal learning and transitioning into learning through the music and arts. In the middle is a central cafeteria that is then engulfed with an indoor garden that acts as a sound barrier and transitions the students to the library space. The central court plays on the children’s imagination by creating different hubs of play; each tree insertion acts as a base for the students to then start to communicate across the different scapes created by the covering separating the residential area from the kindergarten.
The project described embodies a dynamic, organic approach to educational architecture, likened to a living organism seamlessly integrated within its environment. Functioning as a fluid entity, it ingeniously utilizes water to carve out captivating learning environments. Its design capitalizes on pre-existing canals and ponds, interconnecting them to form a cohesive, manmade horizontal canal. This canal, when viewed on a grand scale, mirrors the graceful flow of natural waterways, spanning the site in two distinct forms: the primary school and the outdoor school.
